The English Department is host to two literary magazines. Marr's Field Journal is edited by undergraduates interested in and involved with writing and art. The journal includes poetry, prose and artwork written and created by University of Alabama undergraduates. An attractive magazine filled with quality work, the release of a new issue is always a noted event.
The Black Warrior Review is a nationally recognized literary magazine edited by the English Department's graduate students, largely those involved in the MFA program. The poems and stories published in the BWR have been written by emerging and widely recognized authors, and have been reprinted in the Pushcart Prize, Best American Stories and Poems, and New Stories from the South anthologies.
