Minor Requirements

For students seeking degrees under the Fall 2016 or later catalogs

The minor in English requires 21 hours of EN courses:

  • 9 hours in 200-level classes chosen from literature surveys -- EN 205, EN 206, EN 207, EN 208, EN 209, EN 210, 249 or EN 250 (or honors equivalents) -- or EN 200 or EN 201.
  • 12 hours in 300 or 400 level courses

The minor in Creative Writing requires 18 hours, including:

  • 3 hours of EN 200
  • 3 hours of EN 301
  • 3 hours of EN 303
  • 9 hours of EN 408

EN 200 is a prerequisite for all other courses.

EN 301 and 303 are prerequisites for EN 408.

There are many different permutations of EN 408. Students should carefully consult the course descriptions and choose courses that interest them.  It would be wise to compose schedules that would prevent you from having to take more than one EN 408 per semester.
