Karen Hollingsworth Gardiner (PhD, U of Alabama, 1996) serves as Coordinator for Academic Integrity Initiatives for the College of Arts and Sciences; she is the former director of the First-year Writing Program.

In May 2012, she received The University of Alabama Outstanding Professional Award.

Though she did her doctoral work on 20th-century American dramatist Susan Glaspell, Dr. Gardiner has continuing interests in rhetoric and composition studies, particularly the transition from high school to college writing, the alignment of high-school-to-college writing curriculum, and academic integrity in source-based writing.

Dr. Gardiner is a former Assistant Editor of the South Atlantic Review.
