Alabama Civil Law Clinic: Under the direction of Professor Yuri R. Linetsky, students in this clinic provide free legal advice and representation to University of Alabama students and members of the community in civil matters on a limited referral basis.
Capstone Alliance: Capstone Alliance is the registered campus organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, (LGBTQ+) and allied faculty, staff, and graduate students at The University of Alabama. Their mission is to make the University of Alabama community safe, supportive, and welcoming to all identities.
Counseling Center: The Counseling Center helps students achieve academic success and personal growth through quality brief counseling and psychological services, outreach, and consultative services, and the training of mental health professionals.
Crimson Career Closet: Located at the Career Center, the Closet consists of professional wardrobes for all gender identities, including suits, dresses, skirts, pants, blazers, blouses, shoes, and ties. Students who need professional clothing for interviews, conferences, or other events can borrow them for free. Crimson Closet even covers the dry-cleaning!
Grad Parent Support: Graduate Parent Support (GPS) was created in the fall of 2009 by the University of Alabama’s Graduate School to help provide support for graduate students who have children.
The Office of Student Care and Well Being: This office provides assistance and case management for students in crisis and outreach to parents and families. The staff in this area coordinates a range of services to assist students with issues and concerns that may interfere with their academic success.
SafeZone: The UA Safe Zone Resource Center provides educational outreach, community support, and crisis intervention resources for LGBTQIA+ members of the University of Alabama community and their allies.
Sitters for Service: The Sitters for Service program utilizes undergraduate and graduate students to provide free babysitting for student parents.
SOURCE: The SOURCE provides support, recognition, and resources to student organizations on campus. Students can search by organization types to find campus communities where they can feel supported and represented; for example, SOURCE currently has 52 active Cultural/Intercultural/Identity-Based organizations. These organizations are currently registered with SOURCE and are subject to change, so check SOURCE for updated information.
Syllabus Statements: The English Department Diversity Initiative compiled a list of syllabus statements that can help promote diversity and inclusion.
The Teaching Hub: This is an excellent resource for finding specific advice on teaching, accessibility, and specific student-related issues. An initiative of the College of Arts & Sciences, the teaching hub connects faculty with resources, ideas, and solutions for teaching.
Tide Together: The Tide Together Mentoring Program helps traditionally underrepresented students in graduate programs reach personal and professional success as they navigate the higher education journey. The program primarily serves first-generation students, women in STEM fields, and racial and ethnic minorities.
UAct: A resource for reporting harassment based on genetic or family medical history information, race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, age, disability, protected veteran status or any other legally protected basis.
Women and Gender Resource Center: The WGRC provides free, confidential, and voluntary counseling and advocacy services to members of The University of Alabama community who are victims/survivors of interpersonal violence.
