Alexander Chee is a Korean-American writer, poet, reviewer, and essayist who writes on subjects such as race, gender, and LGBTQ+ issues. He is also an activist for the AIDS advocacy organization, ACT UP. Chee is the author of the novels Edinburgh and The Queen of the Night, and the essay collection How To Write An Autobiographical Novel, all from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. His essays and stories have appeared in The New York Times Book Review, T Magazine, Tin House, Slate, and Guernica, among others. The recipient of a Whiting Award, an NEA Fellowship, and the MCCA Fellowship, Chee is an associate professor of English and creative writing at Dartmouth College.
