Hybrid writer Selah Satterstrom, novelist Daniel Black, and poet Brian Teare will explore the South as a site of literary inspiration and obsession. 

About Selah Satterstrom: 

Selah Saterstrom is the author of the novels Slab, The Meat and Spirit Plan, and The Pink Institution, all published by Coffee House Press. Her book of essays, Ideal Suggestions: Essays in Divinatory Poetics won the Essay Press Book Prize and was published last fall. She teaches and lectures across the United States and abroad, and is the Director of Creative Writing at the University of Denver.

About Daniel Black: 

Dr. Black is a renowned, award-winning novelist. His works include THEY TELL ME OF A HOME, THE SACRED PLACE, PERFECT PEACE, TWELVE GATES TO THE CITY, and now THE COMING and LISTEN TO THE LAMBS. Dr. Black has been nominated for The Townsend Literary Prize three times, The Ernest J. Gaines Award, the Ferro-Grumbley Literary Prize, the Lambda Literary Award, and the Georgia Author of the Year Prize twice. In 2014, he won the Distinguished Writer’s Award from the Mid-Atlantic Writer’s Association. For PERFECT PEACE, the GOG National Book Club Committee named him its “Author of the Year” in 2011. Presently, Dr. Black is full-professor of African American Studies at Clark Atlanta University.

About Brian Teare:

Brian Teare is the author of five critically acclaimed books, most recently Companion Grasses, which was a finalist for the Kingsley Tufts Award, and The Empty Form Goes All the Way to Heaven. His sixth book, Doomstead Days, will be out from Nightboat Books in 2019. His honors include a Lambda Literary Award and fellowships from the NEA, the Pew Foundation, the American Antiquarian Society, and the MacDowell Colony. Born in Georgia and raised in Alabama, he now lives in South Philadelphia, where he makes books by hand for his micropress, Albion Books. He is an Associate Professor at Temple University.
