Bio

Amy spent her career teaching English at Mississippi University for Women, where she specialized in women’s literature, African American literature, British Gothic literature, and literary theory and criticism. Her most recent work involves a mid-19th century woman author from Mississippi, Sarah Anne Ellis Dorsey. She’s happy to be back where she earned her graduate degrees. The classroom is always a joyfully engaged place where both she and students learn about themselves and their world. Encouraging students to discover a new author or text, teaching students to express themselves effectively, and supporting students to reach their fullest potential are fundamental goals in her pedagogy.
