Bio

Anna Davis-Abel is a 2016 graduate of Alabama’s Creative Writing department and a 2020 graduate of West Virginia University’s MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing. Anna also holds graduate teaching certificates in University Pedagogy and Women’s and Gender Studies from WVU. Her teaching specialties include the fiction and nonfiction upper level workshops as well as applied creative writing in digital media. Her writing emphasizes place, gender, and family and can be found in publications like Booth, Hippocampus, Emrys, and on John Oliver’s Tonight Show. She was a 2019 awardee of the American Poets And Writer’s Intro Award for Nonfiction, a national award for emerging writers in each genre, and a 2020 recipient of a West Virginia Arts Council grant for her continuing work on a coming of age memoir set in Alabama.
