Bio

Raymond Wachter studied creative writing and received his BA in English from the University of Iowa. He studied American literature & creative writing and received his MA and PhD in English from the Center for Writers at the University of Southern Mississippi. A former Pushcart Prize nominee, his poems and essays have appeared in The PinchTipton Poetry JournalBurnt Bridge, Knock, Verdad, Phantasmagoria, Apalachee Review, and other online and print journals.

Wachter teaches survey courses in American, British, and world literature as well as a variety of first-year composition courses, creative writing, and critical theory. Besides writing & teaching, he is coordinator of the department’s Mentor Program in Literature & Pedagogy. A founding member of American Legion Post #1831, Wachter also teaches classes in meditation.
